About Mooney & Siegert

Founded in 1917 by George L. Mooney (1917-1967) who later formed a partnership known as Mooney & Mooney with his brother, Bernard R. Mooney (1921-1961) Since that time our firm has been the premier provider of general legal services in Sheboygan and surrounding counties for more than a century. Wm. G. Mooney joined his father in the firm in 1956 and later partnered with Attorney Larry R. Siegert to form Mooney & Siegert. Attorney Matthew P. Mooney joined the firm in 2001 and became owner of the practice in 2017.

Our firm has worked with generations of families during the last decade to handle wide ranging legal issues. Other firms have come and gone while Mooney & Siegert continues to be the premier provider of legal services in Sheboygan County.


Attorney Matthew P. Mooney

Attorney Matthew P. Mooney is a third generation attorney at Mooney & Siegert joining the firm in 2001. A graduate of Plymouth Comprehensive High School and the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater, Attorney Mooney earned his law degree from the prestigious Marquette University Law School where he participated in the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity the Pro Bono Society, and served as Research Assistant to Joseph Kearney, Dean of Marquette Law School.

In addition to his general law practice, he serves as the presiding part-time City of Plymouth Municipal Court Judge. Appointed as Plymouth’s first Municipal Court Judge in 2003, he has been re-elected in 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2015.

Practicing in both State and Federal Courts, Attorney Mooney has wide-ranging experience including Estate Planning-Wills, Trusts & Probate Law, Elder law, Small Business Law, Income & Estate Taxes, Personal Injury, Personal Bankruptcy and Family Law – including divorce, post-divorce, child support to adoption.

Attorney Mooney is involved in the community by serving on the board of the Plymouth Area Ducks Unlimited since 2002, was a past board member of Plymouth Ambulance Service, a past president of the St. John the Baptist School Board and has coached junior league football and youth soccer. He lives in Plymouth with his wife and two daughters.


Attorney Larry R. Siegert

Attorney Larry R. Siegert has broad experience in the general practice of law, having been a member of the Mooney & Siegert law office since 1980. He currently focuses on estate planning, wills, trusts, probate estate and trust estate administration, real estate, taxation and business entity formation and operational matters.

He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Wisconsin - Madison Law School in 1980, after receiving a Bachelor's degree from the same University. He is also a graduate of Plymouth Comprehensive High School. Currently, Attorney Siegert is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for both the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin, and in the United States Tax Court.

Attorney Siegert has served on the Boards of Directors of many community groups, including the Family Resource Center, the Plymouth Intergenerational Coalition (Generations), Aurora Health Care Foundation - Sheboygan County, Aurora Memorial Medical Center, Valley View Medical Center, United Way and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sheboygan County. He has also provided pro bono legal services to Glacial Lakes Conservancy in conservation easement preparation, the United Way of Sheboygan County in the mergers of the Plymouth, Sheboygan Falls and Sheboygan United Way entities, and to the Plymouth Intergenerational Coalition in its corporate formation and achieving its tax recognition as a 501(c)(3) charitable entity.

Larry resides in Plymouth, and on Lake Ellen near Cascade, with his wife, Pamela Fitzer.
